Alice L Burton

Alice Leona Burton of Sarasota, Florida entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 26, 2024 at the age of 101.

She was born in London Mills, Illinois on January 24, 1923 to Alfred James Bailey and Mary E. (Burton) Bailey. She was the third of eleven children. James Arthur, Melvin, Hershel, Mary, Regina, Cleda (Bridenstine), Bertha (Barker), Eva (Callam), and Marie (Toler) all predeceased Alice. Her youngest brother, Benjamin (BJ) Bailey of Westport, Indiana survives.

On February 20, 1943 she married Alvin Burton who preceded her in death. Alice known as "Mom", "Granny Burton", and "Jackie" to her friends and family resided much of her life in Edinburgh, Indiana. She retired from Amos Plastics.

Alice is survived by three sons, Jerry Wayne Burton (and wife Linda) of Sarasota, Florida, Jimmie Lee Burton (and wife Peggy) of Summerville, South Carolina, and John Robert Burton (and wife Susan) of Stuart, Florida.

Also surviving are seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, and cooking.

Calling hours are Monday, March 4, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross Street, Edinburgh, Indiana. A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Kent Wells on Tuesday, March 5 at 10:30 AM. at Eskew-Eaton with burial following at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
