Alvin Hazelwood

Alvin Hazelwood, 66 of Franklin, Indiana passed away at his home on January 4, 2024. Alvin was born on December 22, 1957 in Columbus, Indiana. He was the son Earl Hazelwood and Mary (Hazelwood) Bannister.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny Kemp of Franklin, Indiana and daughter, Shannon Kemp (Travis Smothers) of Trafalgar, Indiana. He had two grandchildren, Tommy Young and Summer Young both of Columbus, Indiana. He had four great-grandchildren, Brantley and Jaxson Young of Edinburgh, Indiana, Payton Skaggs and Liam Keaton of Columbus, Indiana. Alvin had two brothers, Wayne Hazelwood of Eustis, Florida and Lloyd Hazelwood of Columbus, Indiana, and three sisters, Teresa (Randy) Steinstra of Umatilla, Florida, Charlotte (Gene) Seymour of Brunswick, Georgia, and Stephanie (Wayne) Melton of Shelbyville, Indiana. He also had three step-siblings, Larry (Debbie) Bannister of North Vernon, Indiana, Patty Montgomery of Tucson, Arizona, and Pam Bannister of Tucson, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, step-father, Lloyd Bannister, and niece, Stacy Toler.

Alvin retired from Local 103 International Union of Operating Engineers. After he retired his goal was to build the front porch and a swing that he always wanted. He was an entrepreneur. Several of his businesses were, Have Gravel Will Travel, A. Hazelwood Trucking, and Cash for Clunkers. He loved to hunt, fish, and restore anything with a motor.

As per his wishes, he will be cremated with no service.
