Betty J. Rooks

Betty J. Rooks, 79 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away June 15, 2022 in Edinburgh. She was born April 21, 1943 in Adair County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Elidge and Mary (Bedwell) Coffey. She married Tyler Rooks on June 27, 1962 and he preceded her in death on December 12, 1998.

She is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Jeff) Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana and Becky (Marty) Harper of Edinburgh, Indiana, step-sons, Greg (Tammy) Rooks of Flat Rock, Indiana and Jeffrey (Janet Loveless) Rooks of Shelbyville, Indiana, grandchildren, James (Alex) Rooks of Bloomington, Indiana, Bobby T. Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, Bethany Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, Dusty Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, and Brad (Alaina) Burton of Clinton, Indiana, and seven great-grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild, brothers, James (Peggy) Coffey of Edinburgh, Indiana and Romer (Geraldine) Coffey of Columbia, Kentucky, and sister, Polly (Eugene) Rooks of Edinburgh, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Verle Coffey, Hobert Coffey, Robert Coffey, and Junior Coffey, and sisters, Mae Burton and Nannie Swallows.

Betty retired in 2006 from Amos Hill Veneer after 45 plus years of service.

She enjoyed spending time with family, especially grandchildren, cooking, gardening, and doing word search.

A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Stacy Tucker at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday, June 17 at the church and from 10:00 AM Saturday until time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
