Dorothy Houchin Elmore

Dorothy (Houchin) Elmore, 81 of Amity, Indiana passed away September 13, 2022 at Otterbein Franklin Senior Life Community in Franklin, Indiana. She was born July 5, 1941 in Franklin. She was the daughter of Theodore and Anna (Lindsey) Houchin. She married Ronnie W. Elmore on March 28, 1960 and he preceded her in death on February 5, 2010.

She is survived by her sons, Troy (Lisa) Elmore of Amity, Indiana and James (Becky) Elmore of Crescent City, Florida, daughters, Marilyn (Randy) Hodson of Franklin, Indiana and Carolyn (Ronnie) Hodson of Amity, Indiana, 28 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren, brothers, Ted (Barbara) Houchin of Whiteland, Indiana and Paul Mitchell (Debbi) Houchin of Pass Christian, Mississippi, and sisters, Deloris (Ken) Wray of Brown County, Indiana and Judy (Jim) Coffey of Franklin, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Tony Elmore and Ronald "Andy" Elmore, 1 granddaughter, 2 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-granddaughter, brothers, Leon Houchin and Rodney Houchin, and sisters, Doris Raley and Yvonne Houchin.

Dorothy was a member of the Amity Baptist Church and also attended the Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, dancing, square dancing, singing, riding motorcycles, camping, and roller skating.She roller skated professionally with her brother.

A funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Doug Brown at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at Amity Baptist Church in Amity, Indiana. Calling will be from 11:00 AM until time of service at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
