Ellen May Brand

Ellen May Brand, 81, of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away on August 8, 2026, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, in Columbus, Indiana. She was born November 25, 1944, in Gravel Switch, Kentuck and is the daughter of David C. and Dewie Frances (Aldridge) May. Ellen married Gerry R. Brand on August 21, 1965, and he preceded her in death on February 21, 2020.

Ellen is survived by her son, Chad (Maribel) Brand of Edinburgh, Indiana; grandson, Cayden Brand of Edinburgh, Indiana; sisters, Nancy Harmon of Lexington, Kentucky and Janie (Don) Drye of Lebanon, Kentucky and her dog, Molly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, DC May and George May.

Ellen graduated from Indiana University with a Masters in Education. She was employed at East Side Elementary School in Edinburgh, Indiana and retired after 37 years. After retiring she then received a Master Gardener degree from Purdue University.

Ellen loved being a teacher and all of her students. She enjoyed gardening, entertaining and decorating for every holiday. Above all Ellen loved spending time with her family.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana. A graveside service will be conducted by Deacon Dennis May on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
