Frederick Eugene Kirby

Frederick Eugene "Fred" Kirby, 80 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away May 2, 2025 at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, In-Patient Facility. He was born February 10, 1945 in North Vernon, Indiana. He was the son of Eugene and Grace Olive (Johnson) Kirby. He married Emily E. (Sherer) Kirby on June 17, 1967 and she preceded him in death on October 26, 2006.

He is survived by his son, John (Samantha) Kirby of Seymour, Indiana, grandchildren, Daniel Kirby of Seymour, Indiana and Elizabeth Kirby of Seymour, Indiana, brother, Larry (Carolyn) Kirby of North Vernon, Indiana, and sister, Ruth (Charlie) Hughes of Osgood, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.

Fred graduated from North Vernon High School in 1963. He then served in the US Air Force.

He moved to Edinburgh from North Vernon to work at Leonard Ford. He then worked at Randolf Hardware, Edinburgh Little Engine repair, and finally started Kirby Service Center in Edinburgh where he enjoyed making lasting friendships. He enjoyed his grandchildren's activities and sporting events, studying mechanics and mechanical operations. He was a classic car enthusiast, and enjoyed antiquing.

A graveside service will be conducted by Pastor Terry Brammer at 10:30 AM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Vernon Cemetery in Vernon, Indiana. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 8. at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
