Jerry D. Burris

Jerry Daniel "Hook" Burris, 67 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away October 17, 2021 at IU University Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born April 5, 1954 in Franklin, Indiana. He was the son of Cautis H. and Savannah (Streeval) Burris.

He is survived by his daughters, Misty Hogan of Franklin, Indiana and Tara Burris of Columbus, Indiana, grandchildren, Brooke Burton, Parker Hogan, and Leighton Zeigler, brothers, Carlie Burris of Edinburgh, Indiana, Odell (Katy) Burris of Edinburgh, Indiana, and Billy (Patty) Burris of Taylorsville, Indiana, and sister, Peggy (James) Coffey of Edinburgh, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Brenda Cooper, Margie Harmon, and Judy Burris.

Jerry was an Edinburgh High School graduate. He retired from Caterpillar in Franklin, Indian in 2016. He formerly had worked at Webb Veneer in Edinburgh. He loved spending time with his dog, Pepper, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, reading Westerns, playing softball, and enjoyed watching sports, especially IU basketball.

A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Mark Myers at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle. Calling will be from noon until time of service at 3:00 PM. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Jerry's final words were, "It's been a hell of a ride."
