John D. Swallows

John D. Swallows, 85 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away January 28, 2021 at his residence. He was born December 31, 1935 in Liberty, Kentucky. He was the son of Sam and Montie Marie (Rich) Swallows. He married Nannie Jane (Coffey) Swallows and she preceded him in death on August 13, 2017.

He is survived by his sons, Mitchel Swallows of Carlisle, Indiana, David (Venus) Goff of Franklin, Indiana, James (Tammy) Swallows of Taylorsville, Indiana, Charles Goff of Edinburgh, Indiana, and Jack (Glenda) Coffey of Cairo, Georgia, daughters, Christine Bryant of Edinburgh, Indiana, Margaret Swallows (Jessie Simpson) of Edinburgh, Indiana, Judy (Carl) Chandler of Edinburgh, Indiana, and Rosie (Rick) Roland of Edinburgh, Indiana, twenty-nine grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and sisters, Dora Marie Perry of North Carolina and Dorothy Pearl Barnett of North Vernon, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son, Donnie Goff, brothers, Granville Swallows, Walter J. Swallows, Arlis Swallows, Joseph L. Swallows, Walter Sam Swallows, and Junior Swallows, and sisters, Mary Katherine Holt, Pearl McDonald, Betty J. Owens, and Daisy Mae Burton.

John D. worked at David R. Webb and was a self-employed core buyer. He loved spending time with his family and taking his beloved dog, Spike, on walks. He enjoyed lottery tickets, TV game shows, and fishing.

A funeral service will be will be conducted by Reverend Terry England at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 11:00 AM until time of service at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
