Melissa Kay Burton

Melissa Kay Burton, 60 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away August 23, 2022 at Compass Park in Franklin, Indiana. She was born August 11, 1962 in Franklin, Indiana. She was the daughter of Samuel O. Curry and Evangeline F. (Moxley) Burton. She married Marion Burton and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2016.

She is survived by her mother of Edinburgh, Indiana, daughter, Heather Childers of Edinburgh, Indiana, son, Seth Voorheis of Edinburgh, Indiana, step-children, Ben (Misty) Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, Josh Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, Tony Burton of Gainesboro, Tennessee, and Jamie Burton of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, grandchildren, Brayden Childers, Zaiden Voorheis, Zander and Zoie, step-grandchildren, Brittany Burton, and Braxton Burton, brother, Stanley (Janice) Curry of Edinburgh, Indiana, Jeff "Pedro" Curry of Edinburgh, Indiana, sister, Jackie (Harold) Crawhorn of Edinburgh, Indiana, step-brothers, Donnie (Mary) Burton of Franklin, Indiana, and Troy (Paula) Burton of Princess Lakes, Indiana, and step-sisters, Arcena (Larry) Burton of Franklin, Indiana, Devela (Jackie) Lawson of Princes Lakes, Indiana, Vivian Mathews of Columbia, Kentucky, and Tina (Jon) Julbert of Franklin, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her father, step-father, Donald Wayne Burton, and daughter, Kayla Voorheis.

Melissa was a member of the Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church. She formerly worked at David R. Webb in Edinburgh and NTN Driveshaft in Columbus. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, auto racing, and college basketball.

A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Danny Bailey at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church. Calling will be from 11:00 AM until time of service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
