Reverend Douglas Smith

Reverend Douglas Smith, 89 of Columbus, Indiana passed away February 23, 2025 at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was born June 21, 1935 in Crab Orchard, Kentucky. He was the son of Dan and Maggie (Hyatt) Smith. He married Julia A. (Binkley) Smith on January 21, 1977 and she survives. He is also survived by children, Stefan (Patricia) Smith of Scottsburg, Indiana, Laticia (Kevin) Bolding of North Vernon, Indiana, Douglas (Lisa) Smith, Jr. of Brownstown, Indiana, George Daniel (Kathy) Smith of Seymour, Indiana, Alan (Noreen) Young of Louisville, Kentucky, and Russell Young of Bloomington, Indiana, several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers, and 1 sister.

Douglas served in the US Army for 14 years. After his military service, he was employed with the US Postal Service and retired from there after 20 plus years.  He was a member and the founder of Edinburgh Full Gospel Church where he had been serving as pastor for 46 years. He loved life, helping people, being an evangelist, traveling, and cars. Douglas wanted to make a difference in people's lives.

A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Jerry Barnhart at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Edinburgh Full Gospel Church at 507 W. Center Cross Street, Edinburgh. Calling will be from 1:00 PM until time of service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edinburgh Full Gospel Church.
