Rosa Marie Denton

Rosa Marie Denton, 92, of Edinburgh, Indiana, passed away August 9, 2026 at Major Hospital in Shelbyville, Indiana. She was born July 31, 1934, in Columbia, Kentucky and is the daughter of Walter and Myra (Elmore) Cowan. Rosa married Willie Denton on May 3, 1952, and he preceded her in death on November 11, 2016.

Rosa is survived by her sons, Allan (Shirley) Denton of Franklin, Indiana, Fred Denton of Lakeland, Florida, Wendell (Teresa) Denton of Franklin, Indiana and Mike (Shelley) Denton of Sycamore, Georgia; daughters, Lyvonne (Roger) Rowe of Edinburgh, Indiana and Cindy (Rick) Higdon of Shelbyville, Indiana; sisters, Geneva Bolin of Hodginsville, Kentucky and Alene Burton of Franklin, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Alvis Cowan and Fisher Cowan and her sisters, Verna Fay Cowan, Imogene Cowan and Alberta Bailey.

Rosa was a member of Who So Ever Will Community Church in Edinburgh, Indiana. She enjoyed quilting, canning, traveling, reading her Bible daily and watching NASCAR.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM by Pastor Randy Denton and Phil Whited on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Who So Ever Will Community Church in Edinburgh, Indiana. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, and from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh, Indiana.
