Sallie Mae Smith

Sallie Mae Smith, 94 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away November 30, 2024 at Compass Park of Franklin, Indiana. She was born March 13, 1930 in Adair County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Nelse and Leda Frances (Cowan) Burton. She married James Russell Smith on April 20, 1946. He preceded her in death on September 20, 2001.

She is survived by her son, Terry Lee Smith of Edinburgh, Indiana, daughters, Bonita (Dennis) Martin of Edinburgh, Indiana and Angela (Tim) Burton of Edinburgh, Indiana, 11 grandchildren, several great and great-great-grandchildren, and sister, Martha (Paul) Wheat of Edinburgh, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Larry James Smith and Jerry Dale Smith, daughter, Jenny Burton, grandson, Kenneth Allen Smith, brothers, Bobbie Ray Burton and James H. Burton, and sisters, Mayme Stapleton, Lucy Smith, Deanie Bryant, Naomie Hadley, and Mary Lois Burton.

Sallie was a member of the former Edinburgh Assembly of God Church.

She enjoyed attending church, and camping at Starve Hallow by the lake.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted by Reverend Randy Denton at 1:00 PM on December 5, 2024 at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 11:00 AM at the church until time of service. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
